1. What size battery do I need?
Battery capacity is measured in ampere-hours (Ah). The bigger the number, the longer the backup. A simple way to work it out:
- Add up the watts of what you want to run. A fan is about 75 W, an LED light 10 W, a TV 100 W, a small fridge 200 W.
- Multiply by the hours of backup you want, then divide by 12 (the battery voltage), and add about 30% for losses.
- Example: 3 fans, 6 lights and a TV is roughly 385 W. For 4 hours that is about 165 Ah, so a 150–180 Ah battery is the practical choice.
For most 2–3 BHK homes in Jaipur, a 150 Ah tall tubular battery with a 900–1100 VA inverter is the standard fit. Add a second battery (24 V system) only if you want to run heavy loads or need long backup during summer cuts.
2. Tubular or flat plate?
Tubular batteries have thicker plates and handle deep, repeated discharges better. Flat plate batteries cost less but wear out sooner where cuts are frequent.
Tall tubular
Best for long or frequent power cuts. Typically 48–66 months warranty and a life of 4–6 years with care. Most of what we sell.
Short tubular / jumbo
Same technology in a shorter case, for homes where the trolley space is limited.
Flat plate
Cheapest option, suited to areas with short, occasional cuts, or as a backup for a shop with light loads.
3. Matching the inverter
Inverters are rated in VA. As a rule, usable watts are about 80% of the VA rating: a 900 VA inverter comfortably runs about 700 W. Two things to check:
- Sine wave type. Pure sine wave runs fans quietly and is safer for computers, TVs and modern appliances. Square wave is cheaper but noisier on fans.
- System voltage. 12 V units take one battery; 24 V units need two and support bigger loads.

4. Which brand?
For batteries, Okaya, Exide and Amaron all make reliable tall tubular models with pan-India warranty. For inverters, Microtek and Luminous are the most common choices in Jaipur. The honest answer is that the right pick depends on your backup needs and budget more than the badge, which is why we ask about your appliances before recommending anything.
5. What it costs
Prices on our products page are our shop prices, including taxes. A typical home setup, a 150 Ah tall tubular battery with a 900–1100 VA pure sine wave inverter, along with the trolley, comes to a package price we can quote the same day. Two things reduce it:
- Exchange. Your old battery is worth roughly ₹1,500–₹3,000 off, depending on its type and weight.
- Current offers. Call us for the running offer before you decide.
6. Making it last
- Check the water level every 2–3 months and top up only with distilled water, up to the maximum mark.
- Keep the battery in a ventilated spot, off the floor, on its trolley.
- Keep the terminals clean and tight; a light coat of petroleum jelly prevents corrosion.
- If the backup time drops suddenly, get a free load test before replacing anything.
